Introduction

Welcome to our website!
This website is about a group from Greenisland, who are going to Little Hearts Orphanage in Chennai, India. So, if this is the page you were meant to be looking at, what can you do here?
Find out about the trip and the plans.
Look at the lovely mug shots of the lovely people who are going on the lovely trip here.
Check out the fund raising schedule and some of the events planned here.
What about looking at our blogs? There will be some from the teenies and some from the grownies.
Look at Acts Ministries site, the organisation we are going through, or check out our other links here.
Make a donation if you like. Go on, you will, you will, you will!
It looks like I posted this at 7am. I'm not that awake at 7 I'm afraid. I have no idea what time zone the blog site is in! Anyway, we'll keep adding to the site so keep an eye out!
The India trip is planned from the 1st of August, lasting for 3 weeks. We have just booked flights and have to get VISAs in early May. There are 23 people going, 9 grownies and 14 teens, who will be helping in the orphanage, school, health centre and the church in Chennai. It will cost £1500 per person, not including the inoculations which everyone will need to get before they go.
We're working with a group called Acts ministries and their orphanage is called Little Hearts orphanage. See more about what they do on their page (through the links page!)

Donations?

I’m sorry we’re not technically advanced enough to take donations through Paypal or anything. It’s got to be the old fashioned way. Cheque is probably easiest. Cheques should be made payable to Greenisland Church of Ireland. This allows us to claim the tax back through the Gift Aid scheme. Please fill in a Gift Aid form if you are a UK tax payer and enclose it along with the cheque to Peter Regan, 22 Whitethorn, Greenisland, CARRICKFERGUS, Co. Antrim, BT38 8FH or e-mail Peter at peterregan@thinkpositive.co.uk.

If you would like a receipt please include an address or an e-mail address. Thank you for supporting the project. I know it will be an amazing experience for us all and hopefully we can really support the good work done out there.

Fund-raising Plans

hope you’re as excited about fund-raising as we are! We’ve been having a fabulous time so far. We began fund-raising in November 2007. We’ve done carol singing, bag packing, a bread and cheese lunch, bag-packing, an auction and slave auction, some more bag-packing, door-to-door collections, street collections, a sale and even some more bag-packing. We love Iceland, (the shop, although I’m sure the country is great as well) and ASDA and Tesco and Marksies, but the key question is "What’s coming up?"

On the 23rd of April there is a girly night of some variety. Like most good blogs I am very male so I have no idea what that entails.

However, on the following week the 30th of April (it’s a Wednesday) there will be a 5-a-side football competition at UUJ. Make sure you get involved. I see a tumultuous battle ensuing!

Not sure what else to get up to? Well we’re street collecting and bag packing in Larne, Carrickfergus, Whiteabbey and Belfast. Check us out in our snazzy white tee-shirts.

Most of all you want to know how we’re getting on, well we need to raise a minimum of £31,500. That’s because it takes at least £1500 for each of us to go and we want to take things with us. Check out the lovely home made barometer thingummy on the pics page for progress. Cool eh! I know you’re jealous.

Links

So, links eh? Who were you expecting to see here? Your own website? No such luck! Unless of course you are…
Acts Ministries (http://www.actsministries.co.uk/) – The organisation we are going with, they are the funding organisation for little hearts orphanage and have the little hearts website here.

Greenisland Church of Ireland (http://www.greenisland.connor.anglican.org/) – Most of the grownies and half the teens going are from this church. Check out the address and get directions and stuff if you’re coming to any of the events here.

Greenisland Baptist Church (http://www.gbcni.com/) – Some of our guys go here too, but also some of the events are going to be here. I know it’s not difficult to find. It’s out the back of the Church of Ireland, but maybe you need a map or something. Maybe you want to hear some of their sermons, it’s all on you!

Chennai! (http://www.chennai.org.uk/) This is the place we are going. Find out more about it here.

The Bible On-line (http://www.biblegateway.com/) – It’s the bible in lots of translations with a wee search engine and all. It’s good and easy to use. I like the bible a lot.
